During this inaugural meeting, according to Express News, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah proposed a six-month plan to reduce the backlog.
The meeting looked at how the Supreme Court handled pending cases, registrations, and decisions. The meeting was attended by all permanent judges, with Justice Mansoor Ali Shah participating via video link.
Jazeela Aslam, the Supreme Court's Registrar, presented a report on pending cases, which revealed that there are 59,191 such cases. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah presented a one-month plan regarding his case management system during the session.
In addition, Justice Shah made additional recommendations that included an initial plan for one month, a plan for three months, and a plan for six months with the goals of reducing the backlog and enhancing procedures.
In order to speed up the decision-making process in both civil and criminal cases, the meeting noted that two- and three-member benches would be assigned to the cases. Each judge shared their thoughts on how to resolve cases quickly.
Chief Justice Afridi thanked the judges for their insights and engagement regarding the case backlog. The court's next meeting is set for December 2.
